It’s a tough slog being the solo entrepreneur.
We have so many hats to wear and our energy can be pulled so many ways. The plan is always to get staff, delegate and outsource but there’s always that cross over time. Need the staff to make more money but need more money to afford the staff , when do you make that move, and you know it’s just a step of faith, but…
I took the first step a while back with David, my tech, God bless him. Just a little aside, most tech’s are quite analytical by nature so he brings a good balance to my nature, as well as doing all the techy stuff that I can’t do. I’ve just added an in house part time graphics guy to the team so that’s quite exciting.
Back to the power in your thinking, and your words. I’m not going all deep and spiritual on you but consider this…
I notice what people say about their situation. Our words can have a binding effect, whether that’s for good or evil, and can almost become a self fulfilling prophecy.
Even if business is a little tight or slow, you don’t want to declare that as such, but you don’t want to lie, so rather than saying a negative comment like “it’s slow or quiet” consider saying something neutral like “Unbelievable”.
If you’re locked into that place where your business can’t move forward just be careful it’s not you locking it there.
Not sure about you but even if I don’t have client cash work to do there is always plenty of the “work in the business” stuff to do. So my response is always “unbelievably busy”.
So, rather quickly, the busy I was, became the busy I wanted to be.
So… “How’s business?”
