And the Top Social Media Marketing Tool for 2011 is…

Social Media is the new ‘buzz’ and is being touted as this decade’s most cost effective marketing tool with the best ROI.

But there is one clear social media winner!

With so many options where do you focus your energy first, and most likely your investment to get the best bang for your dollar with social media marketing?

Social Media Examiner surveyed 1,900 marketers in 2010 and half said they wanted to learn more about this decade’s most cost effective and successful strategy and this ‘top social media marketing tool’.

Of those just starting out in social media marketing, 65% wanted to learn more about it. And 81% of all the marketers surveyed said they would definitely increase their use of this strategy.

No, it’s not Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or YouTube.

Sure, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn were among the top four social media tools among this group of marketers.

But what was first?

Blogging!

If you’re a professional or business owner, did you know that nearly half of your competitors will be using a blog for marketing purposes by next year?

What will it do for you and your business?

2 Biggies!

  • Better Search Engine position.
  • Credibility and Authority tool.

Better Search Engine position – No good being on page 57 in the search engine results. Not much use even being on page 2 or 3 actually. How many times do you go past page 1 when you’re doing a search?

Obviously the more people who find you in the search engine results, then the more people may do business with you.

Credibility and Authority tool – as you build your arsenal of content on your blog you increase your authority and credibility. This is the decade where people will do their due diligence on you online. If you Googled yourself and your business now what would you find?

It’s like “branding” on steroids. You strengthen your position online and in the market place in the quickest possible time with the least amount of expense. Getting your site ranked well at warp speed is obviously a good thing.

Moral of the story?

If you haven’t got a blog, get one.

Why would you have a website and then a blog? Two things to manage, that’s too hard!

ALL our websites are built on a blogging platform, this is our core business. We’ve been specialising in this for over 3 years now so well before Social Media Examiner was even thought of. A website and a blog all in one, a smarter way to go!

If you do have a blog or a Smarter Website then make regular posts. (Plus this post confirms you’re certainly on the right track with your marketing)

What’s regular? Up to you, it might be quarterly, monthly, fortnightly or weekly. The more you do, the more you strengthen your market place position. Even if it’s quarterly your site will rank better than a standard website so it’s a no brainer.

If you do have a blog and it’s not a Smarter Website take advantage of our free critique.

Your 17 Point Prosperity Check

80% of our work is rebuilds. What does that tell you? Obviously a lot of cowboys or backyarders out there! It’s of no value even if it is on a blogging platform if it’s not set up right.

Success online lies with getting more traffic, keeping them on your site longer, getting their details so you can talk to them more. That’s building a a solid online presence.

Kurt is very good at what he does but he struggled for 2 years with getting his site ranked well, then we waved our magic wand, see what happened in just 3 weeks –

Spot # 2 in Google 3 Weeks

so, get a blog or get posting. Your business will soar!

  1. Hi Carol, no, the title of the blog posts sections doesn’t matter as such, the main thing is that ‘news’ or ‘blog posts’ occur. A blog post is just newe content added to the site regardless of that title.

The reason is this, each new blog post or latest news or news pings the search engines, a ‘ping’ is like internet ‘sonar’ telling the search engines new content here, come and check it out.

One reason our site do so well is the way we set up the ping service so it ‘pings’ more than just one service.

    Hope that helps.
